Ride In Style and Support a Great Initiative

Cyclecabs (Pty) Ltd is an empowerment project established in December 2008 to mobilise unemployed people into the mainstream by creating opportunities for the riders to provide non-motorised transport for tourists and locals in Central Cape Town and surrounds. The Company is dedicated to employment generation and promotion of entrepreneurs in the Cape Town area.

The Cyclecabs initiative was spearheaded the Cape Town Partnership (CTP) who requested a pedicab service in the Cape Town CBD, to meet the needs of the Central City Improvement District (CCID). Whether for leisure, priority travel to meetings, of business purposes, our friendly riders wait and transport passengers safely to their destination.

The FIFA 2010 World Cup presents the challenge of showcasing sustainable passenger transport displaying a low carbon footprint. The initiative currently taking place in Central Cape Town is a demonstration of a low cost environmentally friendly passenger transport service that will enhance the FIFA 2010 World Cup experience.

The Business Plan was developed by several prominent Cape Town entrepreneurs along with support from three influential institutions, namely the St Patrick’s Trust (SPT) of Eurocape Holdings, the local Section 21 NGO Men on the Side of the Road Project (MSR) and the Bicycling Empowerment Network (BEN).
